A Colorado teenager who was about to welcome a baby boy with his girlfriend was killed last week when a tree limb fell on top of him on the job — the same day he shared a gut-wrenching post about how excited he was for the future with his longtime love.

Aiden Hernandez, 19, was involved in a work accident in Colorado Springs around 10 a.m. on May 29, leading first responders to desperately administer CPR, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office told KRDO.

The recent Woodland Park High School grad, who was a star football player, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

More details about the death were not immediately known, though the untimely tragedy has left the community reeling.

“It dropped me to the floor,” his former football coach Chad Drummond told the station. “I don’t know if I’ve still accepted it.

“Incredible young man, great energy, a smile that would just melt your heart. Very intense. Very driven young man, even from an early age,” he added.

Hernandez “shared a profound love” with his longtime girlfriend, Michaela Boring, and was about to welcome their son, whom they will name Zion Hernandez, according to his online tribute.

“He was preparing to be an incredible father and partner, ready to build a beautiful life full of love, adventure, and devotion,” the tribute said.

The same day he died, Hernandez posted a Facebook tribute to Boring and their unborn son alongside sweet photos of the couple.

“I have no words for how much I love this woman, and for what we have coming! I’m forever grateful and I count the days down till we can meet little Zi,” he wrote earlier.

Boring also shared photos from the same shoot that day.

“So much love we made another heart! These boys are my forever loves. I can’t wait for my new little family, it feels like my life is just beginning,” she wrote.

Hernandez was remembered as a “devoted” son and “cherished” brother who “lived life to the fullest.”

“Whether he was jumping off cliffs, climbing mountains on camping trips, or swimming across Pueblo Reservoir, he approached every adventure with a fearless heart and a bright smile,” the remembrance continued.

“Even during difficult times, Aiden’s focus was always on lifting others and making the most of every moment.”
