Discount grocery chain ALDI has announced that it is slashing prices on more than 400 products across all 2,400 of its U.S. stores – a move it says will save shoppers $100 million over the summer months.

“With price drops on the season’s most-loved products in every aisle, we want to do what we can to help shoppers enjoy more of summer,” said CEO Jason Hart in a statement. “It’s another way we’re doubling down on our commitment to help shoppers fill their carts with great products for less.”

Customers will notice lower prices on roughly 25% of ALDI’s products, including fresh meat, organic produce, snacks, and other favorites, the company said.

Based on recent ads and announcements, the Germany-based grocer has already dropped prices on these items (among others):

  • Red Grapes: $1.29/lb (down from $1.99)
  • Blueberries: $1.89/pt (down from $2.99)
  • Cantaloupe: $1.99 (down from $2.19)
  • Simply Nature Organic Tortilla Chips: $1.69 (down from $1.85)

ALDI’s move comes as food inflation continues to hit U.S. consumers’ pocketbooks, with prices climbing 2.8% over the 12 months ending in April, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“While customers may see higher prices at other retailers, we’re working hard to unlock even more value for our shoppers, just in time for summer’s lineup of holidays and gatherings where food takes center stage,” said Hart.

ALDI has experienced rapid growth in the U.S. over the past decade, including its 2023 acquisition of 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets. It opened 120 new stores in 2024 and plans to open another 225 this year.
