More Kevin Durant news: Kevin Durant’s Future in Phoenix Has Reportedly Been Decided
While that is going on, many are wondering about the future of Phoenix Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant. All signs point to Durant likely having a new home for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Only time will tell, but it appears that trade talks surrounding Druant will intensify in the coming weeks. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the news on Wednesday.
“Conversations will now begin to pick up on a potential trade of Kevin Durant out of Phoenix over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Conversations will begin to heat up,” said Charania.
“The Suns will work with All-Star forward Kevin Durant and his business partner, Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman, on his next landing spot. He is expected to have a robust market of approximately four to six seriously interested teams this offseason.”

Durant has spent the past two-plus seasons in Phoenix, and to say it’s been a letdown would be putting it lightly.
He was dealt to the Suns in a blockbuster move before the 2023 trade deadline, coming over from Brooklyn in a deal that was supposed to shift the balance of power in the West. That year, Phoenix snagged the fourth seed but was bounced in the second round by the eventual champs, the Denver Nuggets.
The following season didn’t go much better—Phoenix landed the sixth seed only to get swept by the upstart Timberwolves in the opening round. And this past year? It was a disaster. The Suns fell completely out of postseason contention, finishing 11th in the West and missing the play-in altogether.
Phoenix seemed disinterested in the second half of the season, and their record reflected that. Durant now has a chance to start elsewhere once again as he is set to enter his age-37 season.
It’s been quite the roller coaster for Durant since leaving the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2019. He has been with two squads in the past six seasons and has yet to reach the conference finals during that span.
In all likelihood, Durant will join his fifth team of his career, the only question is, where will he go?
