The Denver Broncos have a very bright outlook with young franchise quarterback Bo Nix leading the way. In his rookie season, Nix flashed all of the potential that made the Broncos select him with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Throughout the course of the season, Nix was impressive. Both as a passer and with his ability to make plays on the ground, he has completely changed the offensive dynamic for Sean Payton and the coaching staff.

Heading into the future, Nix has the potential and talent to take his game to another level. He could become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL if he reaches his ceiling.

With that being said, Nix was close to being the franchise face for an AFC West bitter rival.

Should Denver have passed on him at No. 12 or traded down to take him a few picks later, Nix likely would not have been available. Instead, he would have likely been drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders at pick No. 13 overall.

During an appearance on “Check the Mic” with Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson, former Raiders general manager Tom Telesco spoke out about Nix being the likely pick.

“Other than Jayden Daniels, [trading up for a QB] was a non-starter,” he said. “Bo Nix would’ve been a good possibility [at 13].”

In 2024 with the Broncos, Nix proved Denver right for taking him at No. 12. He played in all 17 regular season games, completing 66.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. On the ground, he racked up 430 yards and four more touchdowns.

Those numbers show just a glimpse of the long-term talent that he possesses. It could very well turn out that the Broncos got a steal with the No. 12 pick.

As for Las Vegas, the team went out and acquired a new quarterback this offseason. The Raiders traded with the Seattle Seahawks for Geno Smith. That will be a huge upgrade for them and should help them compete in the division.

It will be interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for Nix in year two. Some young quarterbacks take a step back in their sophomore season. Nix will be looking to buck that trend and take Denver even closer to Super Bowl contention.
