Inspired by youth and resilience, both watches incorporate Ando’s green apple motif, a recurring symbol in his creative works that represents potential, renewal and a touch of invigorating sourness. The concept is deeply connected to Samuel Ullman’s poem “Youth,” which suggests that youth is not a stage of life but a state of mind. “Time, space, and architecture are always one theme. I thought a watch could imprint time into the heart. That’s why I wanted this green apple watch to be something that makes people feel time,” Ando explains.
The Ando Green model embraces a vivid apple-green hue, symbolizing freshness and vitality, while the Ando Grey edition pays homage to Ando’s concrete architecture, featuring a brushed steel finish that evokes the raw textures of his iconic buildings. Both models maintain a clean, unembellished dial, free from traditional hour markers, reinforcing Ando’s commitment to purity in design. A leaf-shaped handset subtly references the apple theme, adding a playful yet understated touch to the aesthetic.
Cauny has a history of collaborating with renowned architects, having previously worked with Pritzker Prize-winning figures such as Eduardo Souto Moura and Álvaro Siza.
