A Pasadena man was sentenced to prison for the sexual assault of children across the U.S.
Alvaro Maldonado Deza, 40, was sentenced to 23 years to life in state prison, the Pasadena Police Department announced Tuesday.
In August 2023, a sexual assault investigation involving Deza was launched by the department’s Special Victims Unit.
Deza was arrested on June 26, 2024, and a search of his electronic devices revealed thousands of items of child pornography.
Police also found videos of his sexual assaults on numerous children and sexual acts that were committed while “remote viewing with juveniles,” court documents said.
Detectives later identified multiple young victims across several states throughout the country. Police believe there are additional victims living abroad.
On July 10, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office charged Deza with eight counts of committing a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14 years. He remained in custody on $1.8 million bail.
On May 8, Deza agreed to a plea deal and was convicted of three counts of lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14 years. He was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison.
“In addition to being convicted on the previously mentioned charges, the case against Deza is being reviewed by the United States Attorney’s Office,” Pasadena police said.
No further details were released. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Pasadena police at 626-744-4241.
