Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Fresno teen that took place in a wash in San Bernardino County.
Deputies were originally dispatched to the Oak Glen Wash, located near Avenue D in Yucaipa, around 6:40 a.m. Saturday on a “man down” call, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
The deputies arrived to find the victim – 19-year-old Kenneth Xiong – suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, Xiong served in the U.S. Army as a Bradley Crewmember 19C.
Investigators were able to identify and arrest one suspect – Dennis Wright – about 24 hours after the fatal slaying, SBSD said. The second suspect was later identified as Kyle Heller, and he was arrested on Wednesday, authorities said.
Both Wright, 21, and Heller, 20, were taken into custody in Yucaipa and charged with murder. Inmate search records indicate the former is being held on $2 million bail with a court date of June 11, while the latter is being held on no bail with a court date of June 6.
