After starting the season 3-1, the Storm have dropped three consecutive games, most recently a 75-70 home loss to the Las Vegas Aces. Gabby Williams led the way with 20 points on 8-for-16 from the field (4-for-8 from outside the arc), with Skylar Diggins-Smith adding 11, but the Storm struggled with their bench play. Zia Cooke (minus-19), Erica Wheeler (minus-11), and Li Yueru (minus-10) couldn’t keep the game in range, and the Storm ultimately dug too deep of a hole to recover from.
While the combination of Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale has been electric on the offensive end, defense has been a significant issue for the Wings. Bueckers is averaging 14.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, while Ogunbowale is scoring 17.3 points per game to go with 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals.
Defensively, the Wings are 11th out of 13 teams in the WNBA, allowing 89.1 points per game with a defensive rating of 111.4, also 11th in the league.
