The Women’s College World Series begins on Thursday, with Tennessee and Oklahoma facing off in the second game of the day. The winner of this first-round game will advance to face the winner of Texas versus Florida.

Tennessee is 45-15 on the year and is coming off a reverse sweep in the Super Regional. After dropping Game 1 5-2 against Nebraska, the Volunteers won Game 2 3-2 and then eked out a close 1-0 victory in Game 3.
In that final game, the Volunteers got on the board immediately, with Ella Dodge hitting a solo home run in the first inning. Tennessee pitcher Karlyn Pickens went all seven innings, striking out 10 and walking one while allowing just two hits.
Oklahoma is 50-7 on the season and has won seven games in a row after its Super Regional sweep of Alabama. The team won Game 1 3-0 and then run-ruled Alabama in the second game, winning 13-2 in five innings.
Gabbie Garcia homered twice in the win while Ella Parker and Nelly McEnroe-Marinas homered once each. Garcia drove in four runs while Parker drove in three.
