Cameron Diaz’s former assistant shed some light on what it’s really like to work for the actress.
“The Valley” star Janet Caperna recalled working closely with the “Charlie’s Angels” star in an exclusive interview with Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” co-hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real.
“I worked for Avaline, which is Cameron Diaz and Katherine Power’s wine brand,” Caperna divulged.
The Bravolebrity said that she “loved” her formal role on Diaz’s vino team and is still “obsessed” with the wine.
Caperna, 39, added that there’s a “small group” of assistants in Los Angeles that communicate with each other frequently.
“When you know other assistants, it helps your job be a little easier,” she said, noting that they all reach out to each other for help with makeup artist recommendations or other vendor inquiries.
Diaz, 52, co-founded the organic wine brand with her good friend Powers in 2020.
They kicked off the launch with the label’s Spanish white and French rosé wine.
They have since expanded the collection to include a variety of red blends and sparkling wines. All bottles are made using organic grapes from producers in Italy, France and Spain.
The company has seen exponential growth, with the brand earning more than $33 million in sales last year, Forbes reported in February. Avaline ranked the 112th largest wine brand in the US.
In 2023, Diaz famously flaunted the inside of her refrigerator, which was stocked with nothing but bottles of Avaline and containers of salad.
Diaz was able to focus on her wine line after stepping away from her Hollywood career in 2014. Four years later, she claimed to be “retired.”
However, she returned to acting to star in the 2025 Netflix film “Back in Action” alongside Jamie Foxx.
Diaz explained in a behind-the-scenes interview for the movie that she rejected any acting opportunities that came her way to focus on growing her wine company, as well as spending time with her family.
“I’m just trying to stay alive just like every other mother. I’m just trying to keep it going,” she said.
The “Shrek” voice actor and husband Benji Madden, who tied the knot in 2015, share two kids: daughter Raddix, 5, and son Cardinal, 1.
