PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — President Donald Trump and his team announced Tuesday afternoon that they would be pardoning reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley.
Because of this, the Chrisleys may be released from their respective prisons as early as Tuesday night.
The Chrisleys, known for their show “Chrisley Knows Best,” were found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022 and reported to prison in January 2023.
Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and Julie was sentenced to seven.
Julie was sent to a prison in Kentucky, but Todd was sent to the Federal Correctional Institution in Pensacola.
News 5 was there when Todd reported to the prison on Jan. 17, 2023.
We reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which provided this statement:
“Upon receipt of a Presidential Pardon, the Designation Sentence Computation Center (DSCC) Section Chief will verify the warrant with the Pardon Attorney. The appropriate institution and warden, or Residential Reentry Management Office will be notified and the pardon will be immediately processed. The inmate will then prepare for release, including obtaining needed identification and medication. The release process could be immediate or may take up to a couple of days depending on the type of pardon and the necessary travel arrangements needed to get the individual from the facility to their release residence, including the purchase of bus or plane tickets.”
