FC Barcelona has solidified the future of their prodigious talent, Lamine Yamal, by announcing his new long-term contract extension. The 17-year-old forward, who turns 18 in July, has signed a deal that will keep him at the Catalan club until June 30, 2031. He will be 23 years old by the time his contract is up.

Yamal’s extension comes on the heels of a spectacular season where he played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s domestic treble, clinching La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. His remarkable contributions included scoring the decisive goal in their La Liga title win and consistently showcasing his dazzling dribbling, playmaking, and goal-scoring abilities. He ended the season with 18 goals and 25 assists across 55 matches. Yamal made his first team debut with FC Barcelona as a 15-year-old in 2023.

This new contract reportedly makes Yamal one of Barcelona’s highest-paid players, with a base salary potentially reaching €15 million EUR per season and additional performance-related clauses, including for winning the Ballon d’Or. To fend off interest from other top clubs, Barcelona has also included a staggering €1 billion USD release clause, the highest in the club’s history, demonstrating their belief in his immense potential and their commitment to keeping him at Camp Nou for the long term. Yamal, who emerged from Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, has already made over 100 appearances for the first team since his debut in April 2023.
