Conan O’Brien is in talks to appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers – a feat that would mean all three previous hosts of the NBC show will have made an appearance.
Meyers, speaking at his FYC event in LA last night, was asked by moderator Ike Barinholtz, an old friend of Meyer’s and star of Apple’s The Studio, who was his “golden goose”.
“I’ve spoken to this person, and I think it will happen soon. They’ve expressed their desire to do it. There’s only been four of us that have done this on NBC and I’m lucky enough to have had Letterman on and I’ve been lucky enough to have had Fallon on. I would love to have Conan back,” he said.
Meyers added that O’Brien’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor honor at the Kennedy Center was an “incredible night”.
Late-Night started in 1982 with David Letterman hosting until 1993. O’Brien took over from him and hosted until 2009 when he left, briefly, for The Tonight Show. Jimmy Fallon hosted between 2009 and 2014 when Meyers took over.
Letterman returned to Late Night in February 2022 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the show.
Elsewhere, Meyers is welcoming another A-list guest to his show next week on his return from LA. George Clooney, who was set to appear on the show on May 5 but canceled, will join on Monday June 2.
It marks Clooney’s first appearance on the show and comes as he is starring in a Broadway adaptation of his 2005 Edward R. Murrow film Good Night and Good Luck.
