Burger lovers in California have a lot to celebrate this International Burger Day.

Yelp has compiled a list of the top 25 burger brands in the United States to mark the unofficial Wednesday, May 28 holiday — and two California-based chains landed at the top of the list.

To make the cut, these brands needed to have more than 100 locations, operate in multiple states, and be primarily categorized under “burgers” on Yelp.

1.  In-N-Out Burger (Irvine, California)

“A West Coast icon, In-N-Out has earned its legendary status by sticking to what it does best: using fresh, simple ingredients for a menu that has remained consistent since 1948,” Yelp writes. “Fans rave about the friendly service and the nostalgic drive-thru experience. With more than 119,000 Yelp reviews across more than 400 locations, the brand receives special praise for its not-so-secret “secret menu.”

2.  The Habit Burger Grill (Irvine, California)

“Habit Burger has built a loyal fanbase with its smoky, flavorful patties, chargrilled to perfection over an open flame, and a commitment to fresh ingredients. Founded in Santa Barbara, California, this brand has quickly expanded across the western and eastern U.S. The signature Charburger is a standout, layered with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo on a toasted bun.”

3.  Shake Shack (New York)

“What began as a humble hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park has grown into a nationwide sensation,” Yelp writes. “Shake Shack brings gourmet flair to the fast-casual burger world, with a focus on high-quality ingredients and chef-driven recipes.”

4.  Culver’s (Wisconsin)

Yelp writes: “A Midwest favorite now found in 26 states, Culver’s is beloved by fans for its ButterBurgers and rich frozen custard. The Wisconsin-born brand has built a reputation for warm hospitality and comfort food done right.”

5.  Islands Restaurants (Carlsbad, California)

Yelp writes of Carlsbad-based Islands Restaurants: “(It) brings a taste of the tropics to the burger world, with surf-inspired decor, beachy vibes, and a menu full of bold, flavorful options. Founded in Southern California, this laid-back table-service chain is all about good food and good vibes.
