The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting to find out who their starting quarterback will be. Aaron Rodgers is the wide expectation, but that is far from a guarantee at this point.

Until Rodgers puts ink on a contract, the Steelers cannot count that he will be on the team. Right now, they have Mason Rudolph and Will Howard as their two quarterback options.

Mike Tomlin and company are hoping to make a run at a championship this season. With Rodgers on the team, they would have a chance to do so. Without him, it would be a much bigger uphill battle.

Pittsburgh players are beginning OTAs, which has provided much more media coverage of the team. Rudolph has now spoken out with his thoughts on the Rodgers situation and the constant rumors and reports.

“It’s nothing new to me,” Rudolph said. “There’s been constant noise. That is the nature of the NFL, so I’ve been used to that for a long time now. Do nothing but be the best I can be and help our team get better this spring.”

That is the best mentality a quarterback in his situation could possibly have. Whatever comes, he’ll embrace it with open arms.

He also opened up about his current mindset.

“Just control what I can control,” he said. “Throw the ball well, lead the guys, play well when I get the chance.”

Rudolph made his return to the Steelers in free agency after spending the 2024 season with the Tennessee Titans. He received quite a bit of playing time.

In eight games played, Rudolph completed 64 percent of his pass attempts for 1,530 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

To begin his career, the 29-year-old quarterback played four years with Pittsburgh. He received some opportunities to play, but was mostly in a backup role. Should Rodgers not choose to sign with the Steelers, Rudolph would be in a position to be the starting quarterback.

Until a final decision from Rodgers is made, Rudolph will simply continue staying ready. His headspace seems great, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to help the team win football games.

Expect to hear a lot more rumors about Rodgers in the coming days. Hopefully, for Pittsburgh, a decision will be made soon and the team can move forward.
