Summary

  • Collectible furniture dealer Rarify has released its first-ever in-line product in collaboration with Gantri Made, utilizing repurposed USM Haller Modular parts.
  • As part of Gantri’s new lighting production platform, the cubiform lighting unit is 3D-printed in a biodegradable plant-based polymer and can be configured in various compositions.

Philadelphia-based rare and collectible furniture dealer Rarify has partnered with lighting design studio Gantri to unveil its first-ever original product, the Cube One Table Lamp.

The modular lighting system has ever-expanding configuration possibilities thanks to the use of genuine USM Haller Modular parts for the frame and a precision-crafted cube lighting unit. Shown in singular units, tower configurations, and multi-column blocks, the installation images bring Rarify and Gantri’s expandable philosophy to life. Gantri employed a proprietary biodegradable material, housed neatly within a cubiform frame of vintage and new USM Haller components, representing their shared vision of “sustainability, longevity, and timelessness.” Formed in a 3D printing process, the manufacturer utilized its own sugarcane-based plant polymer for responsible disposal at the end of the product’s life cycle. The retro sensibility of the final result aligns with Rarify’s specialty in masterful designs of the 20th century, as well as USM’s enduring Swiss design language rooted in Modernist functionalism.

The collaboration marks Rarify’s first product design powered by Gantri’s newly announced digital manufacturing platform, Gantri Made, which aims to “revolutionize” the design industry with a “speedy, cost-efficient, and sustainable” process for creating and scaling high-quality lighting products. Together, the duo hosted a celebratory launch during NYCxDesign on May 14, showcasing the various configurations of the Cube One Table Lamp under the creative direction of Matt Pecina of Studio Guapo.

The Cube One Table Lamp is available for pre-order now at the Rarify website. See the gallery above for more details.
