Kristin Cavallari, who has admitted to undergoing two different breast augmentation surgeries, just revealed the reason for the second was to replace a ruptured implant.
“Something in me was telling me to redo my boobs. My intuition was saying, ‘Redo your boobs. Go get your boobs checked out. At least get a consultation. At least go down this road.’ And I can’t tell you why, but something in me was telling me to do it,” she told her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast listeners Tuesday.
The “Laguna Beach” star, 38, said she made an appointment with a plastic surgeon in Nashville, where she lives, “not necessarily knowing exactly what [she] was gonna do.”
“And when he saw my boobs, he definitely seemed a little concerned, particularly about my right one,” she recalled. “And he asked me if I’ve had any issues with it, if it’s changed over the years.”
Cavallari explained that she “couldn’t pinpoint when it changed” but did notice that her breasts “were not laying how [she] wanted them to lay.”
She confessed she “thought that maybe gravity over time had taken hold.”
Regardless, her chest did not look how she wanted it to look, and a strong gut feeling led her to her doctor’s office.
“I could tell he was concerned. So what we decided was, ‘OK, well, you get in there and see. See what’s going on.’ ‘Cause we knew something was up,” she said, theorizing that “he knew in that moment” she had a ruptured implant but didn’t want to “freak [her] out.”
“So anyways, he gets in there, and I have a ruptured implant. And there is no way of knowing how long this implant was ruptured for,” she told her listeners, adding that her “body then formed a huge piece of scar tissue around it, which is good because it kind of holds it all in place. It’s your body’s way of protecting itself.”
She went on, “That’s definitely why my right boob was not laying right, and it was f–ked up! I had a ruptured implant, which is crazy to think about. For me, it’s crazy ’cause I’m like, ‘I have no idea when that happened, I have no idea how long it’s been going on for.’
“I guess maybe I could go through my camera roll and, like, try to figure out when my boobs started going a little f–kin’ crosseyed.”
Cavallari said she told her doctor she was “not ready” to remove her implants, explaining, “I’m 38, I’m still young, I have a whole life to live, I’m single. I’m single. If I were in a long-term relationship, maybe I would take out my implants. I don’t know. But I’m single right now. Right now in my life is when I need the best boobs imaginable.”
The Uncommon James founder acknowledged that “some people won’t understand” her logic before pointing out that she does “most things the right way.”
“If my vanity is gonna come into play with my boobs, and that’s one area where I’m like, ‘You know what? Yeah, I’m gonna put silicon in my body. I’ve had it for the last eight and a half years. I was OK. I’m gonna do it,’” she said.
“And I’m happy about it! And I’m gonna be honest with you guys: Doing my boobs is one of the best things I’ve ever done.”
She elaborated, “I love being able to not wear a bra in a shirt, and I love when I take my shirt off when I’m in a relationship. I feel really good about myself.”
Her advice to anyone interested in a breast augmentation is to wait until after they’re done having children because “kids will ruin your boobs.”
“Breastfeeding three kids is what ultimately made me decide to get a boob job,” said the former reality personality, who shares son Camden, 12, son Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 9, with her ex-husband, Jay Cutler.
Cavallari also divulged that she did opt to go a little bigger this time — but only a little.
“I was 300 [cubic centimeter] before,” she shared, “and now I’m 340.”
