EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a first look at Housefull 5, starring the likes of Indian comedy king Akshay Kumar and Abhishek A Bachchan.
The trailer for the first film in the Housefull franchise in six years shows Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek A Bachchan on a giant cruise ship all claiming to be the real son and rightful heir to a fortune. Following a wild night where drinks are spiked, they wake to find their memories hazy, and are soon put in ship’s jail after a murder, with a pair of detectives flown in to determine which of three committed the crime.
As one of the biggest budget comedies to come out of India, the action shifts from the boat across to London, then France, Spain and back to the UK as the police search for their killer. Interestingly, the movie will have two different endings, which will play in cinemas at different times.
Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir all star in a large ensemble cast on the language film.
Tarun Mansukhani is the director, with Sajid Nadiadwala the writer and producer. Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is on the production.
“I’ve been thinking about the story of Housefull 5 and having two different climaxes for the last 30 years,” said Nadiadwala. “I’ve always wanted to make a thriller, and the idea finally came to me 3–4 years ago, right after I finished writing Housefull 4. I wrote the story and screenplay myself, and it’s truly a dream come true. What makes this film unique is that different shows will have all together different killers and climax.
“Imagine a 3pm show having one ending, and the 6pm show having another – this is happening across single screens and multiplexes. Housefull 5 is a true killer comedy. Writing it gave me sleepless nights, but also a lot of joy. Once the script was ready, bringing Akshay and Tarun Mansukhani on board and others made the journey even more fruitful.”
Housefull 5 will be released worldwide on June 6.
