COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say a woman is dead and a man, identified as a former wide receiver for Penn State, is seriously injured after an ATV crash Friday night.
According to a press release, troopers were called to an ATV crash in Columbia Township shortly after 8 p.m. EDT Friday. State police explain that the ATV struck a deer that jumped out into the roadway.
According to PSP, the passenger, identified as 23-year-old Alyssa Boyd from Bloomsburg, sustained severe injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The ATV driver, identified by authorities as 24-year-old Julian Fleming from Elysburg, sustained suspected serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, officials say.
Authorities say neither of the ATV occupants was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash, and the crash is under further investigation at this time. A recently deceased deer was found at the scene, matching the damage seen on the ATV.
Fleming was the top recruit in ESPN’s Class of 2020 out of Southern Columbia, before signing with Ohio State and transferring to Penn State in 2024.
He went undrafted and was expected to sign with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent earlier this year, but he reportedly failed his physical and was not signed.
