Disney‘s Lilo & Stitch live-action adaptation is looking to debut with $341.7 million USD in the Memorial Day Weekend global box office.
Variety reports that the film marks the second-largest worldwide opening weekend of 2025 so far, just behind A Minecraft Movie. Its debut also makes it the third-best for any of Disney’s live-action adaptation behind The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
Lilo & Stitch’s opening total goes against Disney’s $200 million USD production and marketing budget. Its global total includes $157.8 million USD from international markets, with Mexico ($23.7 million USD), the UK ($12.9 million USD) and Brazil ($11.1 million USD)
“This is a sensational opening,” said David A. Gross of movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research of the “Lilo & Stitch” reboot. “It’s a crowd-pleaser, and the audience score is outstanding.”
The film adapts Disney’s animated 2002 film and stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, Courtney B. Vance, Zach Galifianakis and Maia Kealoha.
