The Golden State Warriors are entering a crucial offseason following a second-round playoff exit. The Warriors completely revamped the roster during the middle of the season, acquiring star forward Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat.

Once Butler joined the Warriors, they instantly became one of the best teams in the entire NBA. Golden State used this to push them into the postseason, and they took down the No. 2-seeded Houston Rockets in round one.
Now entering the summer, many around the league believe that Golden State could be very active. The Warriors want to upgrade the roster around star guard Stephen Curry and Butler, giving them a better chance to win next year.
One name that could interest Golden State is guard Derrick White from the Boston Celtics. The Warriors have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for White if the Celtics decide to move on from him.
NBA insider Zach Lowe mentioned the link between the two.
“Another guy for the Warriors to look at going forward is Derrick White,” The Ringer’s Logan Murdoch told longtime NBA reporter Zach Lowe on The Zach Lowe Show. “I think that’s something the Warriors are looking at right now. That’s somebody who can play defense, can settle everyone down especially when you have a young group like that.”
In addition to Lowe, NBA insider Kevin O’Connor also mentioned the two together.
“If the Golden State Warriors, if they were to call up and offer a Mikal Bridges-esque package — four first-round draft picks — for Derrick White, you gotta listen,” O’Connor said.
It remains to be seen what the Celtics will do with White, given that the team is expected to shed major salary this offseason. But if the veteran guard does become available, the Warriors do make a lot of sense.
White is the type of player that any team would love to have, and he could fit in well alongside the star players. His defensive ability could help Golden State as well, giving them much more firepower to work with.
For the season, White averaged 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. Golden State has multiple options to look into this offseason, but it seems that White could be a potential target.
