The Dallas Cowboys and team owner Jerry Jones have yet to figure out what to do with Micah Parsons. While a new contract will need to be worked out to keep him in town long-term, the two sides have yet to make sizable progress.
Parsons has become one of the best defensive players in the NFL. He is a force to be reckoned with week in and week out and is just 25 years old.
Many expect the Cowboys to get a new deal done with Parsons in the near future, but a new update from Jones has fans scratching their heads and concerned.
Jones spoke out, as shared by Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports, and offered a very strange update about Parsons. He revealed that he has not been in contact with the star pass rusher much.

“I haven’t talked with him in about 4 or 5 weeks, and of course that’ll be necessary if he’s going to get a (new) contract,” Jones said. “But he’s got a contract. That’s the point—be sure and clear about that.”
Not being in contact with a franchise player who needs a new contract seems a bit off. Parsons is more than deserving of a new deal, and there has been some tension between the two teams in the past over the potential deal.
Dallas simply cannot risk losing Parsons. If that were to happen, the Cowboys’ defense would take a massive step in the wrong direction.
During the 2024 NFL season, the star pass rusher played in 13 games, recording 43 total tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass. He has played in 63 career games over four years, totaling 256 tackles, 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and nine defended passes.

Not long ago, Dallas COO Stephen Jones spoke out with an update. He’s not rushing a deal, but he believes one will get done.
“I don’t comment on close or far away or any of that,” he said. “Those things, usually, when the right things come together and everybody’s ready to do a deal, then it happens. Certainly, we want Micah here, and he knows we want him here, and I think ultimately, we’ll get something done.”
Only time will tell, but fans are hoping to see a deal get done soon. Parsons is the face of the franchise, and playing around with his future is a dangerous game.
