Residents are on edge after they say a naked man has been terrorizing a Baldwin Park neighborhood and aggressively chasing after women who live in the area.
On April 27, the man was captured on surveillance cameras outside a home along Puente Avenue around 11:40 p.m.
As a woman returns home, she parks her car outside, steps out to open a parking gate before getting back into her car and pulling into the driveway.
As she approaches her front door, the naked suspect quickly walks up to her while appearing to touch his private parts. The woman, who did not wish to be identified out of safety concerns, said she was fearing for her life.
“When I turned over, I saw a naked man, so I dug for my keys as fast as I could and I opened the door as quickly as I could,” she told KTLA’s Chris Wolfe.
She said she was beyond frightened and could only focus on opening the front door to safety. Finally able to step inside, surveillance cameras showed the naked intruder, who was only wearing a beanie and sneakers, running away from the home.
At least two other women who live along Puente Avenue described similar confrontations with a naked suspect earlier this year.
In February, one woman described a more aggressive encounter. She arrived home from work and pulled into her driveway along Puente Avenue around 4 a.m.
She was sitting in her car and enjoying a snack when she spotted what she initially thought was a jogger, but quickly realized the man was naked except for wearing a dark knit cap on his head.
The man spots her and quickly runs up to the passenger side of her car.
“He tries to open the door,” she recalled. “I’m just sitting in there and the doors are locked and I’m screaming. It was extremely terrifying. I’ve never felt so helpless before in my life. It was so scary because it was right outside my house, so now this guy knows where I live and what I look like.”
The victims said the man did not appear to be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs during the frightening confrontations.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s with a fit build and tan skin. Baldwin Park police believe he may have arrived in the area on a bicycle.
The victims are hoping the man is caught soon before a future confrontation turns violent or even deadly.
“He knows where I live and he knows my car if he came back,” the woman from the April 27 incident said. “It’s really scary.”
