HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Utilities says crews will continue to make repairs to areas impacted by Tuesday’s storm.
HU said that with the assistance of outside crews, repairs will continue to be made and will continue to work until all service is restored.
Due to the extent of the damage, HU said restoration estimates are not available and that some outages will continue into Thursday.
The storms left heavy system damage across Madison County, with extensive impacts in the area of Gurley, in and around Killingsworth Cove community, parts of Madison in the immediate area surrounding Gillespie Road and atop the Monte Sano area of Huntsville, including Dug Hill Road.
HU said these areas were affected heavily and will require additional resources to repair and restore electric service. HU said it is assisted by the electric crews from Decatur Utilities and its contractor, Gridco, to help in restoration efforts.
Customers are asked not to approach or drive over power lines, and not to try to remove trees, limbs, or debris from power lines. Instead, HU said these things should be reported to 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).
HU said crews are working as quickly and safely as they can to restore service to all impacted customers.
