EXCLUSIVE: Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation), Brittany Curran (The Magicians), Joey Lawrence (Melissa & Joey), and Courtney D’Angelo (Fade to Black) are set to star in Abstracct Creative and MarcoBox Studios’ The Heart Brake, from director Lance Smith.
Set to enter production outside Nashville in July, the indie romance centers on Julia Winters, who after a sudden cardiac arrest, is forced back to her Tennessee hometown, where Christmas never fades and old wounds still linger. To truly move forward, she must confront the past she thought she’d left behind — and the future she never saw coming.
Chuck Fusca (The Refugee) and Rachael Thompson (WandaVision) co-star, with WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley and Daria Berenato (also known in the WWE as Sonya Deville) appearing in supporting roles. Brian Yuran and Trey McLarnon are producing, with Carrie and Gus Romero exec producing alongside Smith and Fusca. Delaney Blanton handled casting.
“Filming this movie in the town where I was raised is a dream come true. It’s a beautiful story filled with unforgettable characters played by an amazing cast,” said Smith, who served as a host for Viacom’s CMT Network from 2001-2010, as well as anchor for two years on the nationally syndicated morning show, The Daily Buzz.
Added Curran, “Sometimes the exact right script and character finds you at the exact right moment in your life. Not only does the story resonate on a personal level to me, this is something so meaningful that I am excited to share with audiences.”
Curran, Lawrence, and Courtney D’Angelo are repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment. Curran is also repped by attorney Mark S. Temple; Lawrence by Realm Talent and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman. Beverly D’Angelo is with Independent Artist Group.
