SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — One of the stars of “My 600-lb Life” has passed away.

Latonya Pottain, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, May 17, at CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center. According to the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office, Pottain had been staying at a medical rehabilitation center before she was transferred to Highland, where she was later pronounced dead.

The coroner’s office stated that an autopsy was not conducted because Pottain died of natural causes. A preliminary determination indicated that she passed away from congestive heart failure.

Pottain’s brother told TMZ that family members visited her home on Saturday morning and noticed she was having difficulty breathing and did not seem well. Her brother later received a call that she was going into cardiac arrest.

Pottain was best known for her appearance on season 11 of TLC’s “My 600-lb Life.” During her time on the show, she faced challenges in her weight loss journey. Patients featured on the show can undergo gastric bypass surgery, but they must first lose a certain amount of weight on their own.

Unfortunately, Pottain’s journey did not have a happy ending. She was dropped as a patient by the show’s doctor because she would not comply with the program.

She is among several individuals from “My 600-lb Life” who have lost their lives. Pottain was just 40 years old when she died.
