Bill Belichick reportedly had a special request for girlfriend Jordon Hudson before going public with their relationship.
The former New England Patriots head coach requested that Hudson wear red pants during training camp practices so he “might more easily spot her in the crowd,” an anonymous source told the New York Times in a report published Tuesday.
According to the insider, Hudson would also “frequently” join Belichick at a local hotel on the night before home games during the 2023-24 NFL season.
The former cheerleader, 24, and the UNC head football coach, 73, met on a flight from Boston to Florida in 2021.
They were first romantically linked in September 2023, and they made their red carpet debut in December 2024.
At the time, the couple was photographed arm-in-arm at the Museum Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
Hudson donned an off-the-shoulder black velvet gown with a thigh-high slit, while Belichick wore a traditional tuxedo for the event.
In February, they attended the NFL Honors together, with Hudson wearing a skin-baring sparkling silver cutout gown alongside Belichick.
However, the romance came under scrutiny in April after Belichick’s infamously awkward “CBS Sunday Morning” interview.
When journalist Tony Dokoupil asked the coach how he and the pageant queen met, Hudson bluntly interjected, “We’re not talking about that.”
In a voiceover, Dokoupil described Hudson as a “constant presence” during the interview and noted that neither Hudson nor Belichick was “comfortable” with the topic.
The awkward moment sparked a firestorm of speculation about the relationship, with Megyn Kelly wondering whether Belichick was suffering from “elder abuse” or “coercive control,” and Dave Portnoy claiming it’s “clear” Hudson “ran the show.”
Belichick later defended Hudson in a public statement, saying that CBS did not “honor” the “expectation” that the interview would “focus solely” on his new book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.”
In the statement, he claimed that Hudson only interrupted after he had “repeatedly” attempted to redirect Dokoupil back to the topic of the book, and that she did so to “reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”
In May, sportswriter Pablo Torre claimed Hudson was banned from the football facility at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, citing two sources at the university.
After finishing second runner-up at the Miss Maine pageant earlier this month, the New York Times reported that Hudson has told at least one person she’s engaged to the legendary football coach.
