A would-be bride from Nebraska ended up on her honeymoon without the man she was due to marry.

Tobi Elder (@tobielder) had planned the perfect romantic beach wedding in Hawaii set for May 9, followed by a dream honeymoon on the islands.

After three years with her fiancé, whom she believed to be trustworthy, she was ready to take the next step.

“I was in a previous relationship that was extremely toxic and abusive, so I waited three years before getting married as I was hesitant of being hurt again,” Elder told Newsweek.

Showing no red flags, she and her fiancé got engaged and plans for their dream wedding were underway.

But just 36 hours before her flight to Hawaii, everything unraveled. Sitting in a salon, getting her wedding nails done, Elder’s phone lit up with a series of text messages, revealing that her fiancé had been cheating on her for a long time.

“I decided to go alone and heal once arriving in Hawaii,” Elder told Newsweek. “I completely fell apart and broke down. [I] don’t think I’ve ever felt so low and broken.”

Her parents were devastated for her, and while both wanted to fly out to comfort their daughter, her dad, Rob, didn’t hesitate. He booked a ticket immediately to fly 2,500 miles to ensure her daughter wasn’t alone.

“When he told me, ‘I’ll be there Friday with you,’ I just burst into tears because I was so, so heartbroken and alone,” Elder said.

In a clip on TikTok, Elder captured the moment her dad landed at the airport and then enjoying an orange juice at a cafe.

Elder captioned her heartwarming clip: I can say I am loved and my dad is ALWAYS there.

The clip has been viewed 3.4 million times and received over 316,000 likes. Hundreds of TikTok users poured in the comments section with love for the dad’s unconditional support.

“When your heart is healed, you’re going to be thrilled to have these memories with your dad instead of wasting Hawaii on the wrong person,” one user wrote.

“You dodged a bullet and won at life,” another added.

“My dad had always been there when needed,” Elder said. “[He] is an amazing human being with so much love and he’s so funny.”
