ROUGH—DRAFT® has released its “Daily Commute” capsule, a concise, two-item collection of staples made to provide wearers with the tools they need to tackle their everyday excursions. Consisting of the Courier Zip Tote and the Traveler 1/2 Zip, the capsule’s offerings are rooted in functional simplicity, a no-frills shade of olive, and high-quality materials, all to provide subtle nods to outdoor gear and a spirit of exploration. “Every piece [we create] is influenced by elements of nature or outdoor gear we’ve come across over the years, but reinterpreted through a broader lens for everyday wear,” ROUGH—DRAFT® founder Timothy Clark told Hypebeast in a February installment of Hypebeast Community Center.
To this end, the Courier Zip Tote, crafted in collaboration with Chicago-based bagmakers 1733, is built from a blend of Japanese organic cotton and recycled nylon for a smooth hand feel and excellent durability. It features a modular, removable strap that can be worn on either shoulder or removed so the bag can be hand-carried. Other details include YKK EVERBRIGHT® zippers and internal pockets so small goods can be seperated from larger ones.
Elsewhere, the Traveler 1/2 Zip features a two-layer construction with the same Japanese cotton/nylon blend for its exterior and a half-lined interior set up with e.dye® recycled polyester pellets. The brand notes that this lining provides “color stability” by directly coloring the raw material that it’s made from before it’s spun into fabric, which eliminates the need to use water in the dyeing process. Besides this aspect of sustainability, the material also makes the 1/2 zip quick-drying and anti-pilling.
Though the Courier Zip tote sold out almost immediately upon release, the Traveler 1/2 Zip is available via the ROUGH—DRAFT® webstore now and is priced at $330 USD.
