The 2025 PGA Championship is under wraps, as Scottie Scheffler captured his third major championship Sunday at Quail Hollow. At one point during the final round, Scheffler had blown his lead and was tied with Jon Rahm.

But he turned it on late to win by five strokes.

While Scheffler captured glory, Bryson DeChambeau once again was left with a runner-up finish. It is the second straight year he finished just behind the winner at the PGA Championship.

After coming up short, DeChambeau sat down with CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis to discuss what went wrong.

“I felt like I had the game to win this week. The golf course suited me pretty well. I missed a few putts coming down the stretch and got a little unlucky in this beautiful game of golf.”

“I’m sure you heard me out there really baffled. It was a good fight, a good battle.”

“This is burning a bigger fire in my belly.”

After appearing to make excuses yet again, the LIV Golf star then showed why he is the ‘people’s champion,’ illustrating some self-deprecation.

“Definitely had an opportunity to beat Rory, definitely had an opportunity to give Scottie [Scheffler] a run this week. I was leading after 16 holes in the third round. Man, I just didn’t get it done.”

The two-time U.S. Open champion indeed caught a couple of bad breaks. The wind during Saturday’s round likely affected his tee shot on the par-3 17th. The ball sailed and found water, as he plummeted down the leaderboard.

But that is something that DeChambeau recognized he needs to figure out.

“I gotta learn to be a little more precise with the wind, can’t let the wind affect the ball as much. It’s a tough task to do because I hit it so high.

“I gotta figure that out.”

DeChambeau will now set his sights on Oakmont, the host venue of the 2025 U.S. Open.

“I got some tricks up my sleeve that I’m going to be working on for the U.S. Open.”
