Brooks Koepka Challenges PGA Championship Heckler: ‘Come Down Here’

Brooks Koepka continued his horrible streak in majors by missing the cut at the 2025 PGA Championship. It is his second consecutive missed cut in tournaments in this category, where he has not posted a top 10 since winning at Oak Hill in 2023.

However, Koepka did not only draw attention to himself this weekend for his poor performance at Quail Hollow. The 5-time major champion was the star of a somewhat heated interaction with a fan on Friday, which fortunately did not get out of hand.

During his second round, Koepka was walking from hole to hole when he passed a hospitality section, and a fan tried to get under his skin by yelling at him:

“That’s what guaranteed money does to you, Brooks,” the fan said, trying to link his LIV Golf membership with his performance at the event.

Koepka, who had every reason to be frustrated at the moment, turned and answered insolence with insolence:

“You want to come down here and say it?” Kopeka responded.

Fortunately, the heckler did not pretend to back up his words with facts, and the incident ended as quickly as it started. Apparently, many fans still think that paying for a seat in the crowd permits them to believe that players have no blood in their veins.

Koepka was never close to playing his best golf at this edition of the PGA Championship. He carded three birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey in the first round (4-over 75). It was even worse on Friday with three birdies, six bogeys and a double bogey (5-over 76).

His 36-hole score of 9-over meant he missed the cut by eight strokes.

Notably, this is an event that Koepka has dominated at will in the past. In 13 appearances (including 2025), he has won three times and finished in the top five in three other editions. Until this week at Quail Hollow, he had never missed the cut at the PGA Championship.

Koepka hasn’t had a great season on LIV Golf in 2025 either. He has just two top-10 finishes in seven events, including a second place (Singapore). He has finished outside the top 30 in three of the seven tournaments, which has left him with no league points.
