SPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major spoilers from the Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 finale.

Following the Season 4 finale of the hit Starz series Power Book III: Raising Kanan, the network has revealed that the upcoming fifth season will be the show’s last. Additionally, a (not-so) new power player will join the chaos on the Southside who hardcore fans will recognize by name and reputation.

Tonight, Shameik Moore debuted as Branford ‘Breeze’ Frady, the nephew of street legends Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods). The couple introduces Breeze to Kanan (MeKai Curtis), and it wasn’t the warmest of welcomes; however, the meeting sparks a new partnership opportunity between the two young men, providing a lasting tie between the prequel and the flagship series.

“Power” Universe fans have heard the name “Breeze” since the first season of the original series in 2014, and it is one of the characters they have said they most wanted to meet. Known as a drug kingpin from Jamaica, Queens, Breeze employed a young Kanan Stark, as well as James St. Patrick and Tommy Egan, with the latter two serving as his corner boys, which took place around the same time Season 5 is set.

“The ‘Power’ Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment, and I’m honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze,” Moore shared. “I jumped into a story that is already alive with such strong characters, but it was a fun challenge to find Breeze’s unique identity, and I can’t wait for fans to see how Breeze will shift dynamics in the story. It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

With Raising Kanan ending with Season 5 and Breeze now in the picture, it’s the perfect time to introduce Young Ghost and Tommy with a potential future for all of them and Kanan in Origins, a new prequel spinoff in development at Starz since last March. In the timeline, Origins would follow the events of Raising Kanan and before the original Power series. It’s worth noting, Origins has yet to be picked up to series.

Breeze will eventually be killed by Ghost approximately 15-18 years before the events at the start of the mothership series. This event plays a major role in Ghost’s life and who he is in the future.

“It was always my intention that Raising Kanan would run for five seasons, and thanks to my friends and partners at Starz and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast, crew and writing staff, I’ve been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell way back in 2019,” said Sascha Penn, executive producer, writer and showrunner, Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

He continued, “Having said that, with the table we’ve set in this season finale and the inevitable introduction of Breeze, there is still an exceptionally intense and action-packed season left for the viewers to experience, and I assure you that the stakes for Kanan and the entire Thomas family have never been higher. I’m very proud of this series, and grateful that we’ve been able to see it through to what is an incredibly explosive and satisfying conclusion for the unbelievably loyal fans of the Power Universe.”

Could this be the end for the Power franchise? Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force, starring OG star Joseph Sikora playing his original role of Tommy in the present timeline, will wrap up after one more season. Power Book II: Ghost concluded after four seasons last year.

Deadline understands there are multiple Power projects in various stages of development, with nothing to confirm at this time. The prequel Origins could continue the past timeline, and, depending on how Force ends, it could mean Tommy continues. Perhaps he and Ghost’s son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) and maybe Tasha (Naturi Naughton) will put what’s left of the family back together? That trio looked pretty chummy in the final season of Power Book II: Ghost, didn’t they?

I caught up with Penn for a post-mortem that I’ll drop early tomorrow about the future of Power, the shocking events in the finale that you will watch shortly, and a special guest joins us to break down the shocking last beats of Season 4.

All four seasons of Power Book II: Raising Kanan are available to stream now via Starz.
