The Denver Nuggets may be without standout forward Aaron Gordon for Sunday’s Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Gordon, who injured his hamstring late in Game 6, has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain. Charania said Gordon’s status is “in doubt” for Game 7.

“Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and his status is in doubt for Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote on X. “Major development heading into Sunday’s 3:30 p.m. ET game on ABC for a Western Conference Finals berth.”

Gordon has been a key force for Denver this postseason on both sides of the ball. He’s averaging personal playoff-highs in points (16.8) and rebounds (7.3). He’s shot 48.5 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from deep.

In addition to his strong play, Gordon has been one of the postseason’s best players in the clutch. He’s had multiple clutch shots throughout the postseason, including numerous game winners.

Gordon had a buzzer-beating putback dunk in Game 4 of the first round series against the Los Angeles Clippers. He also hit a game-winning 3-pointer with three seconds left in Game 1 of this second round series against the Thunder.

In Game 3 against the Thunder, Gordon hit a 3-pointer with 28 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. The Nuggets went on to win the game and take a 2-1 series lead.

Gordon dealt with calf and leg injuries throughout the regular season — appearing in just 51 games — but was healthy enough to play in every game thus far this postseason.

Now, it appears he’s at serious risk of missing what could be the Nuggets’ final game of the season in a win or go home Game 7 against the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

In the regular season — Gordon’s 11th year in the NBA — the former University of Arizona star averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 53.1 percent from the field, 43.6 percent from deep and 81 percent from the free throw line.

Now, it appears the Nuggets will be forced to find a way to take down the No. 1 seeded Thunder without one of their key role players.
