Kristen Stewart went full ballet-core at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival…with a couple twists.
Over the years, Stewart has become one of the most iconic Chanel ambassadors because she doesn’t really feel like a Chanel girl. With regularity, Stewart gives the French luxury brand’s demure silhouettes and ultra-feminine fabrics a fresh perspective by actively pushing against them with masculine styling, punk haircuts, and an endless devotion to visible or non-existent lingerie. So it was a bit of a surprise when Stewart arrived for The Chronology of Water photo-call at Cannes Film Festival in a properly sweet Chanel ensemble.
On May 16, Steart posed for photos in a pink tweed short suit with a sheer chiffon overskirt and open cardigan, leaning into the ballet-core of it all with a messy bun with pink-dyed tips. While the hair and red carpet shorts were classic Stewart, the newly-wedded actor embraced the softness of the look by keeping her makeup minimal and opting for a soft pink manicure. She even went with a feminine peep-toe heel without so much as a chunky platform.
Of course, this head-to-toe pink look was not quite head-to-toe. Instead of matching her pedicure to her nails, the 35-year-old actor opted for a deep-dark shade reminiscent of moody manicure trends popping up this spring. Frankly, I’m surprised we saw Stewart’s toes at all.
Above all else, Stewart typically prefers a boot or loafer over a heel, famously kicking off the offending footwear at the first opportunity. And when she does opt for a heel she often wears a closed-toed option or wears socks with her peep-toed platforms.
It’s no wonder Stewart eventually changed out of her heels and into a pair of white Chanel sneakers, which she kept on for her next photo op in a white tweed set with a white T-shirt. This is still Kristen Stewart we’re talking about.
