EXCLUSIVE: Apple and The Walsh Company emerged triumphant by acquiring Early Action, a spec script by Sophie de Bruijn. Kevin Walsh will produce.
In Early Action, two parents who go to extreme lengths to get their son into his dream college – even if it means manufacturing a traumatic experience for him to write about in his admissions essay.
There were over a dozen producers chasing the project. Liz Lippman and Patrick McNamara brought in the project for Walsh and will be executive produce alongside Sophie de Bruijn.
De Bruijn is a writer and director with a passion for crafting high energy, emotionally grounded comedies that center unruly female protagonists. In Chicago she studied and performed at The Second City Theater, and got an MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage from Northwestern University.
The Walsh Company recently renewed its first look deal with Apple TV+ across both film and TV. Up next, The Walsh Company has the Brad Ingelsby-scripted Echo Valley, directed by Michael Pearce, and starring Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney. The film will be released in June. Walsh has also produced for Apple the Doug Liman-directed The Instigators and Ridley Scott-directed Napoleon.
