Game 4 was a contentious affair, highlighted by two first-period fights. The Oilers got out in front early, scoring just 1:27 into the game off the stick of Adam Henrique, his second goal of the playoffs, which turned out to be all the Oilers would need. Later in the period, Henrique would add another goal, assisted by Zach Hyman and Evander Kane. At 7:38 of the second period, Kane would get his own goal, assisted by Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard.
Vegas was one of the best teams in the NHL’s regular season, but came out flat against the Oilers in Game 4. They were outshot 32-23, won 40.7% of faceoffs, and most importantly, they struggled with puck possession. The Oilers had seven takeaways and only 10 giveaways compared to Vegas getting just one takeaway and 14 giveaways. For Vegas to have a chance, they’ll need to get something from regular-season goal leaders Pavel Dorofeyev and Thomas Hertl, who have yet to register a single point in the series.
