PHOENIX — Several highway improvement projects in northern Arizona are set to begin this summer.

One of those projects will cost $106 million. Transportation officials are working to create a traffic interchange between I-40 and US 93 in west Kingman.

Later this month, just east of Flagstaff by Winslow, roadwork to I-40 will include sealing the pavement between mileposts 240 and 258.

Crews will work to repave 11 miles of I-40 roads between Holy Moses Wash and Rattlesnake Wash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

Officials expect the improvements to take a year to complete.

Another project will impact traffic on US 93 south of Wikieup. Officials are spending over $22 million to replace 13 miles of pavement between mileposts 131 and 144.

Another project taking place this summer will replace pavement on I-40 between Two Guns and Meteor City. Work on the initiative, which impacts traffic from milepost 230 to 240, should be completed in 2026

Other northern Arizona highway projects include:

  • State Route 89A near Fain Road in Prescott Valley
  • US 89 between Bitter Springs and Rossman Hill in Page
  • SR 87 roads between Green Valley Parkway and Crackerjack Road in Payson
  • US 89 between Bitter Springs and Rossman Hill south of Page
  • US 160 in the Tuba City between mileposts 321 and 335

Roadwork in higher elevations needs to be completed during the warmer season.

ADOT won’t schedule road work during weekends and holidays to ensure projects won’t interfere with traveler plans.
