It has been a long time since the world has seen “King of the Hill.” The cartoon sitcom that follows the life of propane Salesman, Hank Hill, ended back in 2010.

Now, the series revival is in full swing, which has come with a first look image at the four neighbors from Arlen, Texas.

What is ‘King of the Hill’?

“King of the Hill” is a series created by Mike Jude, who is well-known for the another crude animated cartoon known to the world as “Beavis and Butthead.”

While “Beavis and Butthead” follows two rock-loving best friends who continually get into trouble while making fun of every genre but heavy metal, “King of the Hill” follows the life of Hank Hill, a propane salesman from Arlen, Texas.

Hill and his family, Peggy (wife), Bobby (Son), and Ladybird (dog), live in the same neighborhood as best friends and neighbors Dale Gribble, Bill Dautrieve, and Boomhauer.

Hank, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer often stand in the alleyway, drinking beer with one another. That is, unless they are bothered by another neighbor’s foibles.

When did ‘King of the Hill’ first come out?

Judge began working on “King of the Hill,” when he was busy with “Beavis and Butthead.” Judge was paired with Greg Daniels, who formerly worked on “The Simpsons,” to move forward after Fox had approved Judge’s pitch for the show.

“King of the Hill” was meant to serve as a mid-season replacement, but quickly exploded as one of the most popular shows after it debuted on Fox on Jan. 12, 1997.

The series would run for 13 seasons and 259 episodes.

‘King of the Hill’ Cast: Who is Returning?

Judge is returning not only to write and produce the revival, but he will also voice both Hank Hill and Boomhauer.

Other confirmed returning cast is Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Pamela Adlon as Bobby, and Stephen Root is back as Bill Dauterive.

Judge has not yet revealed how much of a part of the cast Dale Gribble will be, as voice actor Johnny Hardwick passed away in 2023, right after the revival had been announced.

It would be believed that Dale will appear to some degree, as he is in the first-look image.

The “King of the Hill” revival is going to follow a clearly much older Hank Hill, as he, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer look far older and grizzled. Dale also appears to be wearing virtual reality headset of sorts.

The other known detail about the plot is that Bobby is also much older and is pursuing a career as a chef.

Not much is known about the show, though there are set to be more details released soon.

When Could the Show be Released?

Mike Judge, and many of the other cast are expected to attend Austin’s ATX TV Festival, which takes place on May 30. There, more details about the “King of the Hill” revival are going to be revealed.

From multiple reports, the revival is slated for a summer release, though a concrete release date has yet to be revealed. The series will be released on Hulu, and considering the reveal event on May 30, August would be a believable release month.
