fakemink is one of the UK underground’s brightest young stars. The 20-year-old has had a breakout year with hit singles like the ethereal “Easter Pink” and menacing “LV Sandals” cut with EsDeeKid and Rico Ace, earning him notoriety in the rap scene. Back in March he teased a collaboration with Drain Gang‘s Ecco2k, sharing a snippet of a song featuring the two on Instagram Live after posting pictures together on Instagram. This crossover of cult-like fanbases built much anticipation for its release, only for it to leak last week, leading to the song dropping today.
Officially titled “MAKKA,” the track also features Mechatok, who offers energetic production throughout its 3-minute runtime. Ecco2k leads the track with angelic vocals backed by Deer Park on guitar, only for fakemink to step into the spotlight with his signature swagger. His love for designer fashion is again made apparent with braggadocious bars like “2025 yeah my jeans still Hedi,” and “I’m really smoking flavors in Bottega, got my bag up.” This energy is mirrored with its accompanying music video, shot by Eoin Smyth, as the two vocalists flex matching Tom Ford briefs. The fast-paced visual also features a variety of graphics that have been chaotically layered by DopeSolitary.
Check out the video above and look out for “MAKKA” to hit streaming services at midnight local time.
