Disney announced on Tuesday that Captain America: Brave New World, one of the latest films from Marvel Studios, will begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ on May 28.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s Anthony Mackie returns in the film as Sam Wilson, who now wields the shield of Captain America. After meeting with newly elected U.S. president Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Wilson soon finds himself in the middle of an international incident. In a race against time, he must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.
Directed by Julius Onah, the film also stars Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson. Kevin Feige and Nate Moore produced the pic, with Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers.
Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters in February, grossing over $415 million worldwide. Marvel’s follow-up, Thunderbolts*, has so far taken in over $273M and remains in theaters. Next up on the docket for release is The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25.
