TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Publix is voluntarily recalling a specific flavor of GreenWise baby food packets due to a potential lead contamination.

The affected product is the GreenWise Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea Baby Food packet with a best by date of 11/01/2025.

The baby food was sold in all eight states where the company operates: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

A spokesperson for the company said there have been no reported illnesses.

Ingesting lead can be harmful and there is no safe blood lead level, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For children, even low levels of lead are tied to developmental delays, difficulty learning and behavioral problems. High levels of lead can cause brain damage and even death.

Adults exposed to lead can suffer long-term health problems, including an elevated risk of high blood pressure, cardiovascular issues and kidney damage, according to the World Health Organization.

If you have purchased this product, you can receive a full refund by returning it to your local store.

For more information, see the Publix recall announcement.
