EXCLUSIVE: Lily Collias (Good One), Joe Anders (upcoming East of Eden), and Malia Pyles (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) have come aboard to round out the cast of Apple TV+‘s Cape Fear TV series.
No word on roles to be played by the trio. They join an ensemble that will also include Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, and Clara Wong.
In Cape Fear — created, written, and showrun by Nick Antosca — a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison. The 10-episode series is billed as a tense, Hitchcockian thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century.
Hailing from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, the show is based on both the novel The Executioners, which inspired Gregory Peck’s 1962 film for Universal, as well as the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese, who’s among the executive producers here.
Other EPs include Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat; Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, and Steven Spielberg for Amblin Television — the latter, the producer of Scorsese’s version — Bardem, Adams, and Morten Tyldum, who directs the pilot. The series is developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP, where he’s been based since 2017.
Collias stars In India Donaldson’s debut feature Good One, a critically lauded Sundance title that earned her a Gotham Award nomination for Breakthrough Performer, releasing via Metrograph Pictures last August. She’s also been seen in the award-winning indie Palm Trees and Power Lines and will soon be seen starring in A24 horror pic Altar, as well as Miramax and Paramount’s Roofman opposite Channing Tatum. She is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Soon to be seen starring alongside Florence Pugh in Netflix’s miniseries adaptation of East of Eden, Anders’ past work includes the UK indie Bonus Track, which premiered on Sky as its lead film for Pride month, and Dominic Savage’s award winner I Am Ruth. He is repped by United Agents and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
Best known for her work on series like Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and Baskets, Pyles is coming off the SXSW debut of She’s the He, an indie comedy in which she stars alongside Mark Indelicato, Suzanne Cryer, and more. She is repped by Innovative, Monster Talent Management, and Myman Greenspan Fox.
