Awake NY, Angelo Baque’s downtown streetwear banner, is known for its rich collaborative Rolodex, spanning everyone from Ferg and Tommy Hilfiger to Union LA and Jordan. Following on from its honorary Gil Scott-Heron collection earlier this year, the brand’s latest partner is Barriers Worldwide, Steven Barter’s New York streetwear brand known for celebrating cultural storytelling through fashion.
The line includes two code-colling hoodies and T-shirt designs. Most notably, the “Flag” tee features an illustration depicting the “complex experience of being American,” as both a “celebration of diversity and a confrontation of the challenges that come with it.” Elsewhere, hoodies host “Live Free” emblems combining both brands’ iconography with inspiring lettering — “A Guiding Light Whose Love Shows Us The Way” — on the back.
