The Golden State Warriors dropped Game 3 of their second-round postseason series to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Golden State wasn’t able to hold off the attack from the Timberwolves in the second half, and it led to Minnesota taking a 2-1 series lead.

Once again, the Warriors were without star point guard Stephen Curry. Curry has been dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered during Game 1 of the series.

Curry is expected to be out at least until Game 6 of this series, but the guard could be back sooner. Warriors insider Anthony Slater of The Athletic provided an update on the status of Curry.

“About 90 minutes before tip on Saturday night, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry went through a pretty strenuous workout on the team’s practice court in the dungeons of Chase Center. It was the clearest initial step in what Curry hopes to be an expedited return from the hamstring strain that has come to define this second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves”

It seems that Curry is looking to get back as soon as possible to help the team out. But the Warriors aren’t going to rush the star guard back without being sure he is healthy enough to play.

It’s an unfortunate situation for the Warriors to be in, but they are facing the reality of this series getting out of hand. With Game 4 coming up, Golden State knows that it will need to be better.

Star forward Jimmy Butler was great for the Warriors in Game 3, leading the charge without Curry. But even with his 33-point outburst, it wasn’t enough to overtake the Timberwolves.

“Man, Jimmy was incredible,” Steve Kerr said. “He really controlled the game for us and put us in a position to win, and we just couldn’t close it out. But he was brilliant all night.”

If the Warriors can keep this series close, it could allow enough time for Curry to return to the floor. But another loss could be disastrous for this team, and they may face having to go on the road in an elimination game without the captain of the team.
