Cecily Strong made a surprise return to “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend as she appeared alongside Colin Jost in a sketch poking fun at Trump administration officials Jeanine Pirro and Pete Hegseth.
The “SNL” alum came back to play former New York prosecutor and former Fox News host Pirro in the wake of President Trump recently naming her as interim US Attorney for Washington, DC.
Strong appeared alongside James Austin Johnson as the president and Jost as Hegseth in Saturday’s cold open.
The sketch began with a crack at Trump’s tariffs, a recurring theme on the NBC show in recent weeks.
“Can a country go out of business? We’re going to find out,” Johnson said as Trump.
But moving on to “good news,” he then told the audience he had “just appointed one of the loudest people I know to be the US attorney in DC, Jeanine Pirro,” as Strong walked on stage to applause.
“Jeanine will be the newest addition to my incredible team in my administration,” Johnson’s Trump added.
“And what a team, Mr President,” Strong’s Pirro said. “I’m so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, boozehounds and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed.”
Johnson’s Trump called “Pirro” a “great legal mind,” adding that she had the “most important quality I look for in a lawyer — she’s on TV.”
It isn’t the first time Strong has impersonated Pirro on “SNL,” and she marked Saturday’s appearance by bringing back a running gag where she did a spit-take directed at “Weekend Update” segment anchor Jost.
“I love Pete Hegseth. He’s my old drinking buddy,” Strong’s Pirro said as Jost as Hegseth came on stage.
The sketch culminated with Strong’s Pirro spraying what appeared to be red wine in Jost’s mouth to the delight of the liberal audience.
“Folks, they’re not the A Team. They’re the AA Team,” Johnson’s Trump said in a jab at the pair.
Saturday’s episode also saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brutally roasted by Jost during the “Weekend Update” segment alongside Michael Che.
“President [Donald] Trump also announced a new trade deal with the UK that will reopen British markets for American companies,” Jost said.
“All that Britain demands in return is that we keep these two,” the comedian, 42, added as a photo of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared on the screen.
In another segment, Jost interrupted a sketch by trying to sell his Staten Island ferry, after calling the vessel his “dumbest” purchase ever.
Jost and fellow “SNL” star and Staten Islander Pete Davidson bought the retired orange ferry for $280,000 at auction in 2022 while they were allegedly “very stoned.”
