EXCLUSIVE: Hated. Adored. Never ignored. An ambitious, big-budget movie biopic about Donald Trump is in the works from Ferrari and To The Bone producer Andrea Iervolino.
Prolific Italian producer Iervolino will be at the Cannes market talking to potential partners with an aim to shoot at the end of 2025 in the U.S. Iervolino is aiming to corral a huge budget for the project with a $100M tag being floated. Cast has yet to be set.
We understand the film will be “kinder” to POTUS than The Apprentice, the Oscar-nominated biopic starring Jeremy Strong and Sebastian Stan. Trump’s team famously took umbrage at that movie and tried to have it blocked from release around this time a year ago.
The Andrea Iervolino Company’s description of the project is “a major new biographical film centered on the life and legacy of Donald J. Trump — real estate mogul, television icon, and 45th and 47th President of the United States.” It’s not clear if Iervolino has reached out to Trump’s team.
Iervolino says collaborators on the project include Keya Morgan, the former Stan Lee manager who became embroiled in a high-profile legal dispute with the comics icon’s daughter. Morgan is a Trump fan. His imdb page currently lists Donald Trump Jr as a client.
Andrea Iervolino commented: “Whether one agrees or disagrees with his politics, there’s no denying Donald Trump’s impact on the modern era. As a producer, I’m interested in exploring the deeper story of the man — the rise, the challenges, the resilience. Our goal is to deliver a film that is bold, balanced, and artistically ambitious.”
Iervolino’s biopics to date include Ferrari, Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, Maserati: The Brothers, and The Music of Silence about singer Andrea Bocelli (Trump is a big fan of the tenor). He is soon to go into production on Al Pacino movie Captivated about the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III.
Trump and his entourage remain fertile ground for the industry. Prime Video has stumped up top dollar to make a Brett Ratner documentary about Melania Trump. Alex Gibney is lining up Elon Musk documentary Musk.
