MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — People in Madison no longer have to drive far to get spinal and neurological treatment.
A new spine & neuro clinic will open May 19 at the Madison Medical 1 Building on Balch Road and operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be led by physiatrist Dr. Duncan Brotes and neurosurgeon Dr. Thomas Ostergard.
The clinic is located on the third floor of the Madison Medical 1 Building. It will provide treatment options for a variety of conditions, including back and neck pain, carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, herniated discs, bone spurs, spinal fractures, stenosis and traumatic brain injuries.
Speakers at the event highlighted the convenience of the new location.
“Folks don’t have to drive as far, and this is one more example of another service that’s critical to our community and now available right here in the backyard to everyone,” Madison Mayor Paul Finley said.
Josh Hewitt, the senior vice president of physician services for the Huntsville Hospital Health System, said that as the City of Madison grows and traffic worsens, not everyone can make the trip to Huntsville for their care.
“We’re really excited to meet patients’ needs here in their local community, and we’ve hired three amazing new surgeons who are going to be working here in this clinic as well as a lot of other team members, just to meet the needs for Madison City,” Hewitt said.
Dr. Ostergard said patients have already told him they are excited for this new location.
“I’m super excited to be in Madison,” Dr. Ostergard said. “A ton of patients who have to drive over to the clinic to see me in Huntsville, and every time they see me, they’re really excited to get great care, but they’re also really excited to get care closer to home.”
