The Miami Dolphins have been dealing with multiple issues regarding superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Hill pulled himself in the final game of the 2024 season, and also stated he was “leaving the door open” for a trade. Following the incident, he revealed he spoke out of emotion and did not want to leave Miami.

The other biggest issue was that Hill had been playing with a torn ligament in his wrist, which led to surgery this offseason. There have been reports that the Dolphins receiver would be ready to go during OTAs, depending on how he heals.

Now, that might not be the case, as Hill revealed he underwent a second surgery on his hand, which could place doubt in his ability to even play during preseason.

Sun Sentinel writer David Furones posted images taken from Hill’s Snapchat account, which show him in a hospital bed after undergoing another surgery.

Hill captioned the post with, “Surgery #2 let’s gooo thank you lord.”

There is plenty of time for Hill to heal between now and when the regular season kicks off in September. However, losing him for OTAs, minicamp, training camp, and more could be detrimental to establishing his chemistry with the offense.

The Dolphins will have new players to integrate into the offense, including first-round pick offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea, who is being pegged as the team’s starting guard, even as a rookie.

Granted, Hill will not need to develop chemistry as much with the offensive line, but the timing in which quarterback Tua Tagovailoa can get the ball out with a rebuilt offensive line will matter a great deal.

Hill had a down year in 2024, posting 959 yards and eight touchdowns. This was the first time in five seasons he has not eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark.

Tagovailoa suffered a concussion that knocked him out of action for multiple weeks, and the Dolphins’ season just never recovered.

The hope is that Hill remaining with the team would jumpstart the offense in 2025 again, but there is now doubt regarding when he will be ready to play.

Hill has stated many times over that “cheetahs don’t get hurt,” referring to the speedster’s nickname, but undergoing two surgeries is concerning. There is likely to be a bigger return timeline provided by head coach Mike McDaniel, but it sounds like Hill will have to rehab for some time.
