ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) — Many teachers across the Tennessee Valley go above and beyond for their students, and we want to recognize them — with our Education Honor Roll!
This week, we want to introduce you to Kelly Duncan, a teacher at Arab High School!
Mrs. Duncan is an English teacher and serves as the cheerleading sponsor. Those who nominated her say she is a devoted and compassionate educator who successfully balances the demands of being a working mother with her deep passion for teaching and mentoring.
They said her lessons are known for sparking meaningful discussions, encouraging critical thinking and fostering a genuine love for reading and writing.
“Her dedication extends far beyond the classroom and sidelines; she’s a mentor, a role model, and a positive force in the lives of many. Mrs. Duncan’s ability to connect with her students—academically, emotionally, and personally—makes her an invaluable part of the school community,” Mrs. Duncan’s nominators said.
We visited Mrs. Duncan at the school in her English class and you can watch her story above.
Do you know another teacher who goes above and beyond? Help us give them the spotlight they deserve by nominating them for the Educator Honor Roll Award. To nominate a teacher you know, click here!
