The much-anticipated Cadillac Formula 1 team launch event held during the 2025 Miami Grand Prix weekend was met with mixed reactions from fans of the sport. With the American brand releasing a teaser video of what to expect when the team hits the grid in 2026, fans were quick to have their say.
In an exclusive event on Saturday evening at Miami Beach, expectations were high. In fact, the official Cadillac F1 team website crashed due to the increased traffic from fans wanting to know more.
The event, held at the Queen Miami Beach venue, drew crowds of fans wanting to know which drivers they were choosing for their 2026 campaign – an answer that never came.
Despite the buildup and expectations of a livery reveal, or even something more than that, all that came was a teaser video which confirmed certain branding elements like the team logo. Surprise – it’s the Cadillac logo.
The team also hinted at a blue-and-white color scheme reflecting American international motorsports colors. Nothing, however, was confirmed fully, and for this reason, it fell short for a large proportion of fans.
Fan Reactions
QuietLowLife on Reddit said the following: “I sat thru the whole video waiting for a car with their livery and all I got was lame music, graphics and the company logo.”
A second user, Firefox72, added: “TLDR: Its the Cadillac logo.”
A third questioned the release: “…ok, but where’s the livery though? Weren’t they going to reveal that yesterday?”
Another noted: “I really hope they are gonna make further announcements else they over hyped their launch!”
One labelled it as “generic”: “That was as generic as it gets, it could have been an ad for a watch as much as it is for a formula 1 team but whatever, do you think they’ll battle for points from the start?”
Of course, there were plenty of positive comments.
Fans Hope for Sergio Perez
Perhaps the most important thing we’ve learnt from this reveal is the love for Sergio Perez. Sat outside the event, crowds chanted the former F1 driver’s name. “Get Checo! Get Checo!” they shouted.
Perez has been strongly linked with one of the seats after being dropped by Red Bull after the 2024 season.
Mario Andretti, discussing the option of the Mexican driver, told ESPN, via PlanetF1, the following:
“He is an option,” he admitted. “He could be an option. Of course, he could be an option. All I can say is that Liam Lawson is making Checo look very, very good.”
Bernie Ecclestone, however, threw Mick Schumacher’s hat in the ring.
“If Michael had been by his side, Mick would be a regular driver in Formula 1 today,” he told F1-Insider via Planet F1.
“What speaks for him, the name Schumacher has even more charisma in the USA than in Europe. Formula 1 could continue to use this name.”
